Rice University’s Humanities Research Center seeks postdoctoral fellows for the 2017-18 Rice Seminar: “Forgery and the Ancient: Art, Agency, Authorship.” The multi-disciplinary cohort of fellows will investigate the concept and practice of forgery in antiquity (broadly defined) and in relation to ancient materials. We will cast a wide net, and participants might investigate the culture-period of the “original,” the “forgery,” or its reception, in any part of the globe.

​Applicants from any humanistic discipline or interdiscipline are eligible to apply and must have received a PhD between July 1, 2014 and June 30, 2017.

-Cover Letter, outlining applicant’s interest in the topic of the seminar
-Two page CV
-Research Statement (i.e., a 200 word abstract of the research project)
-Research Proposal (i.e., a 1000 word description of the research project)
-Course Proposal for a one-semester course for undergraduate students
-Three letters of recommendation

Fellows receive a $55,000 salary, benefits eligibility, and an allowance for research and relocation to Houston.
