Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Classics at the rank of assistant or associate professor, with a specialty in Greek poetry. The successful candidate must have a PhD in a relevant field in hand by July 1, 2016 and must show strong promise of scholarly achievement and the ability to make significant contributions to the graduate and undergraduate programs of a vibrant and growing Classics department, teaching courses in Greek, Latin, and in translation at all undergraduate levels and graduate seminars in a wide range of Greek verse authors. Candidates applying at the associate professor level should have an established publication record and at least five years of teaching experience at the university level. Duties will include teaching, advising of students, research and writing for publication, departmental governance, and university service. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a writing sample, course evaluations or other evidence of teaching excellence, and three letters of recommendation by October 15, 2015.
