The Department of Classical Studies at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Greek literature at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin in Fall 2015. PhD must be in hand, or date of defense firmly set, at time of application. We are most interested in candidates whose work engages poetry of the fifth and fourth centuries BCE, especially Greek drama. Interested candidates should apply online at https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/5027 with a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and a writing sample. We encourage applicants also to submit materials illustrating their teaching experience to date. Applications received by December 1, 2014 will be guaranteed full consideration. Applicants should ask three referees to submit letters of support; these letters must also be received by December 1 to ensure full consideration. Questions may be addressed to Professor Peter Burian, Chair of the Greek Search Committee (pburian@duke.edu, or Department of Classical Studies, Box 90103, Durham, NC 27708-0103). Preliminary interviews will be held at the Annual Meeting of the SCS in New Orleans, January 9-11, 2015.
