Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Classical Studies invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Classical Studies with a specialty in Greek poetry beginning academic year 2016-2017. The Department of Classical Studies offers undergraduate majors in Classical Civilization, Greek, and Latin, and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate, and contributes to the training of graduate students in Philosophy, Theology, History and English (Medieval Studies) in the ancient languages. Competitive candidates will be specialists in Greek poetry with solid general expertise. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Classics in hand at the time of appointment. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in ancient Greek and Classical Civilization. Candidates for the position must clearly demonstrate the potential for excellence in research and teaching and have a record of (or clear potential for) distinguished scholarship, grant-funded research, and student mentorship.
