The Department of the Classics at Colgate University invites applications for a tenure-stream appointment at the level of Assistant Professor to begin July 2015. The department seeks applicants experienced in the teaching of Latin and Greek at all levels, with a research interest in Greek or Latin literature and competence to develop courses that address the breadth of cross-cultural interaction in the ancient Mediterranean world. Completion of Ph.D. is expected prior to or shortly after date of hire. In addition to teaching within the department, the successful candidate will also be expected to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum. The teaching load is five courses per year. Colgate is a highly selective liberal arts university of 2,800 students situated in central New York.
