The Department of Classics at Howard University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2015. The candidate should be able to offer courses on the art, archaeology, and civilizations of Greece and Rome in all periods, as well as on Hellenistic and Roman Egypt and North Africa; evidence of an ability to cover the ancient Near East is especially welcome. A Ph.D. is required at the time of application. Candidates must be fully committed to undergraduate teaching and show evidence of research appropriate to their level of experience. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to curricular development and to the department's on-going efforts to attract new majors.
