The Paris Institute for Advanced Study welcomes applications from high level international scholars and scientists in the fields of the humanities, the social sciences and related fields for periods of five or nine months, during the academic year 2017-2018. New Ludwig Koenen Fellowships for Training Papyrology

The Society is pleased to announce a new fellowship competition supported by contributions to the Gateway Campaign for Classics by the Friends of Ludwig Koenen and matching funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The Koenen Fellowships will support training in papyrology for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and untenured faculty. Awards in 2016 will be a minimum of $600 and a maximum of $1,800.

Tsakopoulos Hellenic Collection Library Research Fellowship Program, 2016-2017

Thanks to generous continued funding from the Elios Charitable Foundation and additional funding from the Tsakopoulos Hellenic Foundation, the University Library at California State University, Sacramento is pleased to announce the continuation of the Library Research Fellowship Program to support the use of the Tsakopoulos Hellenic Collection by fellows for scholarly research in Hellenic studies while in residence in Sacramento.

ACLS Public Fellows Program

The ACLS is pleased to announce the roster of host organizations for the sixth annual ACLS Public Fellows competition. In 2016, the program will place up to 21 recent humanities PhDs in two-year positions at the nonprofits and government agencies listed below. Public Fellows will participate in the core work of these partner organizations while benefiting from professional mentoring and other career building opportunities. The fellowship carries a stipend of $65,000 per year, as well as individual health insurance and $3,000 toward professional development activities.

Awards to Be Presented at Upcoming Annual Meeting

President’s Award (honors an individual, group, or organization outside of the Classics profession that has made significant contributions to advancing public appreciation and awareness of Classical antiquity).

NEH Public Scholar Grants

The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) invites applications for the 2016 round of the Public Scholar Program, which is intended to support well-researched books in the humanities that have been conceived and written to reach a broad readership. Books supported through the Public Scholar Program might present a narrative history, tell the stories of important individuals, analyze significant texts, provide a synthesis of ideas, revive interest in a neglected subject, or examine the latest thinking on a topic.

Pre-Dissertation Research Fellowship in European Studies

The Council for European Studies (CES) invites eligible graduate students to apply for its 2016 Pre-Dissertation Research Fellowships. Each fellowship includes a $4,000 stipend, travel support for attending and presenting at the International Conference of Europeanists, and the opportunity to publish in Perspectives on Europe, a semi-annual journal of the Council for European Studies.

Jan Wojcik Memorial Prize for Graduate Students

The Journal of the History of Philosophy is pleased to announce the Jan Wojcik Memorial Prize for graduate students in the history of philosophy. Made possible by the generosity of Jan’s children and their families, this annual award of up to $4000 is intended to further the research of a graduate student enrolled and resident in a North American Ph.D. program and working on a dissertation in the history of philosophy (all periods).
