Polis - The Jerusalem Institute of Languages and Humanities

We have two sessions in Jerusalem during the summer months with intensive courses in Classical Syriac, Koine Greek, and Biblical Hebrew. The Summer 2017 session (July 3-21, 2017) includes an intensive course in Classical Syriac for Advanced Beginners (Level II) with a total of 60 academic hours. The September 2017 session (August 30, 2017 - September 28, 2017) offers both a Koine Greek and a Biblical Hebrew course. The Koine Greek course is an intensive course intended for Beginners and Advanced Beginners, covering both Levels I+II, for 120 academic hours - knowledge of the Greek alphabet is a prerequisite. The Biblical Hebrew course is also an intensive course, intended for Intermediate level students (Level III), with a total of 80 academic hours. The courses in Jerusalem will take place at the Polis Institute, located at 8 HaAyin Het Street, in the neighborhood of Musrara, near the Old City of Jerusalem.

In addition to our course offerings in Jerusalem, Polis has co-organized a beginners course in Koine Greek with the Classical Association of Massachusetts and the Department of Classical and Religious Studies, UMass Boston at Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. The director of Polis, Dr. Christophe Rico, will act as Instructional Director as well as course instructor, for the duration of the program (June 11-30, 2017).
