LECTURER IN CLASSICAL STUDIES AT IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY (2-YEAR POSITION)

The Department of World Languages and Cultures (WLC) at Iowa State University is seeking to hire a part-time Lecturer (75%) to teach a range of undergraduate courses in Classical Studies (courses in English) and Elementary Latin to begin August 16, 2015. This is a non-tenure track two-year position with the possibility of renewal.

Courses to be taught will include Greek and Roman mythology, Greek and Roman drama, the Elementary Latin sequence, and two courses from among the following: Greek and Roman Epic and the Hero; Sex, Gender and Culture in the Ancient Mediterranean World; and Religions of Ancient Greece and Rome.

A typical full-time teaching load is 8 courses per year (4 courses per semester). This position is usually 6 courses per year depending on need.

Master's degree in Classical Studies or related field and demonstrated successful experience as the instructor-of-record teaching Elementary Latin to undergraduate students are required. Ph.D. in Classical Studies or related field and demonstrated successful experience as the instructor-of-record teaching Classical Studies courses (in English) at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum are preferred. Salary is commensurate with qualifications.
