Rice University’s Humanities Research Center seeks visiting faculty scholars for the 2017-18 Rice Seminar: “Forgery and the Ancient: Art, Agency, Authorship.” The multi-disciplinary cohort of fellows will investigate the concept and practice of forgery in antiquity (broadly defined) and in relation to ancient materials. We will cast a wide net, and participants might investigate the culture-period of the “original,” the “forgery,” or its reception, in any part of the globe.

Applicants must hold the terminal degree in their field, which can be from any humanistic discipline or interdiscipline.

Application Materials:
-Cover Letter, outlining applicant’s interest in the topic of the seminar
-Two page CV
-Research Statement (i.e., a 200 word abstract of the research project)
-Research Proposal (i.e., a 1000 word description of the research project)
-Three letters of recommendation

​Visiting faculty receive a stipend of $60,000, benefits eligibility, and allowances for research and relocation to Houston.
