Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Classics at the rank of assistant or associate professor, with a specialty in ancient medicine, Greek drama, or Latin prose other than historiography. The successful candidate must have a PhD in hand by July 1, 2015 and must show strong promise of scholarly achievement and the ability to make significant contributions to the graduate and undergraduate programs of a vibrant and growing Classics department, teaching courses in Greek and/or Latin at all levels and courses in translation. Candidates applying at the associate professor level should have an established publication record and at least five years of teaching experience at the university level. Duties will include teaching, advising of students, research and writing for publication, departmental governance, and university service. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a writing sample, course evaluations or other evidence of teaching excellence, and three letters of recommendation by November 1, 2014.
