The University of Arizona Department of Classics seeks to fill a tenure-stream position in New Testament and Early Christianity. The successful candidate will be appointed at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand. Candidates must have an active research agenda suited to a tenure-stream position in New Testament and Early Christianity, as well as strong credentials in the languages appropriate to the field. The successful candidate will have an excellent record of teaching at the university level. In addition to creating and offering undergraduate and graduate courses in New Testament and Early Christianity, this position will require teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Greek. Candidates with additional research and/or teaching competencies in any of the following areas are of particular interest: Hellenistic and Late Antiquity Studies; Second Temple Judaisms; Byzantine Studies; Women, Gender, and Sexuality in the Greco-Roman World; Greco-Roman Religions.

We seek candidates with the interdisciplinary finesse to participate actively in both Classics and the Religious Studies Program housed in the Department. Candidates with a background in program building are encouraged to apply, as the position will involve collaborating with faculty in multiple disciplines throughout the University of Arizona to develop thriving Greek Studies and Ancient Mediterranean Studies programs.
