The Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures at Texas Tech University invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in Classics.
Candidates should be experienced and dynamic teachers with a demonstrated interest in contributing to the growth of Texas Tech’s MA and BA programs; the research area is Greek Prose. Besides complementing the interests of the existing faculty, the ideal candidate will have a diverse set of theoretical and methodological interests which explore the impact of the Ancient World (particularly desirable are interests in race and political theory). Teaching duties will be comprised primarily of Greek Language at the MA and all undergraduate levels as well as courses in translation (especially Mythology and Greek Civilization). The candidate must have Ph.D. in hand by June 2017.
The successful candidate will have a strong record of scholarship and the proven capacity or clear potential to bring externally sponsored research to Texas Tech University. Service duties include program-building, as well as commitment to extra-curricular activities. Service to the department, college, and university is expected.
