The Art and Art History Department at Macalester College seeks candidates for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in Ancient-Medieval Art History, with a sub-specialty in Islamic art or other areas of art history (such as Near East or Pre-Columbian art) to expand course offerings and trans-disciplinary studies at Macalester. The successful candidate will contribute to the undergraduate curriculum and will teach introductory, intermediate, and upper-level courses in Ancient-Medieval art and in other sub-specialties in the field, including a first year course and the senior Art History Methodology Seminar. The art history program is integrated with a vigorous studio program in a liberal arts undergraduate setting. Cross-listings with Classics, History, Middle Eastern Studies, Islamic Civilization, Religious Studies and other programs in the college are strongly encouraged.
