Summary:

The Classics Department at Colorado College announces a one-year, non-tenure track sabbatical-replacement Assistant Professor of Classics position to begin in August 2017.

Colorado College is a leading national liberal arts college with a distinctive academic calendar called the Block Plan, in which students take one course at a time. The teaching load for this position will consist of six regular courses, two of which will be intermediate Latin (the author/genre of candidate’s choosing in consultation with the department chair) and Roman history (one from our three part, chronological sequence). Other electives might deal with gender and sexuality, mythology, historiography, etc. and be reflective of the candidate’s research interests. The college supports active scholarship via travel to conferences and internal grant opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:

A PhD in classics or a closely-related field is required, but ABD will be considered. The department values both depth and breadth in the field. Applicants must be able to teach a wide range of courses across the department’s language, literature, history and cultural studies curriculum.
