The Department of Classics at Hillsdale College is seeking applications for a full time two-year, non-renewable visiting assistant position (pending approval of funds) beginning the Fall semester 2017. Evidence of a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship is a must. Teaching responsibilities will include language instruction in Greek and Latin from the introductory to the advanced levels as well as survey courses in translation on Greek and Roman civilization. All classes are at the undergraduate level. Candidates should have a PhD in Classics, or expect to have completed their degree by September 2017. The teaching load is 3/3, and an average class size of 20 students. Candidate must already be eligible to work in the United States. Applicants should familiarize themselves with the College’s Mission Statement (https://www.hillsdale.edu/about/mission/) and include in their letters a detailed response to the mission, addressing their interest and ability to teach in light of its commitments.
