The Department of Classical Studies at Trinity University invites applications for a one-year, full-time appointment in Greek or Roman Archaeology at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor to begin in August 2022.

We are looking to hire an active researcher in the field of Greek or Roman Archaeology, broadly defined. The successful applicant will be teaching 3 courses per semester, including Introduction to Classical Archaeology and Classical Mythology. An ability to teach Latin or Ancient Greek at the intermediate level is preferred, but not required. Candidates are expected to have a high aptitude for undergraduate teaching and mentoring and a strong commitment to the mission of a thriving liberal arts program, including a demonstrated commitment to Trinity’s value of intentional inclusion. We will prioritize candidates who have connections to an active archaeological site and can offer students opportunities to participate in the excavation. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Classical Studies, Archaeology, or a related field by the start of the appointment.

A complete application will include a letter of application that addresses the candidate’s qualifications and interest in the position, a current curriculum vitae, unofficial transcripts from all postsecondary institutions attended, a teaching statement, evidence of teaching excellence (e.g., syllabi, evaluations), and three letters of recommendation. The teaching statement should include a section that discusses the candidate's experience with active and inclusive pedagogy. Please send this material by email attachment to classics@trinity.edu .

Review of applications will begin on March 22 and continue until the position is filled.
