Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics

Kenyon College, a highly selective liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for an approved one-year visiting assistant professor in the Department of Classics, with a specialty in Greek language and literature, effective July 1, 2022.

Teaching responsibilities will include our yearlong intensive elementary Greek course, a survey of classical mythology in translation (fall semester), and another course in translation on a topic chosen by the candidate in consultation with the department (spring semester). A Ph.D. in hand is preferred, but not required. Applicants must be enthusiastic about introductory language instruction and be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching.

To apply, please submit the following materials using the online application system at http://careers.kenyon.edu: (1) a cover letter detailing research interests as well as teaching experience and philosophy; (2) a curriculum vitae; (3) graduate transcripts; and (4) three letters of recommendation, at least one of which addresses the candidate’s teaching abilities. Inquiries may be directed to Rachel Hoffman, Administrative Assistant for Classics, at hoffman2@kenyon.edu or 740-427-5216.

Review of applications will begin April 1, and will continue until the position is filled. Applications received by April 1 are guaranteed full consideration. Initial interviews as well as those of finalists will be held by videoconference.
