The Department of Classics at Yale University announces a one-year position in Classics at the rank of Lecturer with a secondary rank of Associate Research Scholar to begin in Fall 2022. An Assistant Professor on leave from their home institution would be granted the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor. The successful candidate must show strong scholarly promise, and have completed all requirements for the PhD by July 1, 2022. The teaching load will be two courses per semester. Strong preference will be given to candidates working in some area of Latin Literature. The successful candidate will be expected to teach intermediate and/or advanced Latin, contribute to the literature track of Yale’s ‘Directed Studies’ program for first-year students, and teach one or more courses in translation that offer new approaches to the study of Greco-Roman antiquity and that are designed to engage a diverse community of learners.
