The Department of Classics at Columbia University invites applications for a one-year appointment beginning July 1, 2022 as a Lecturer in Latin, with a primary specialization in Latin language and literature, but also with demonstrable experience in teaching Greek. The appointee will be expected to teach language courses at all levels, in both Latin and Greek. The teaching load will be five courses per year, of which one will be a seminar for the Department’s post-baccalaureate, certificate-granting program. The appointee will also be expected to administer the post-baccalaureate program, notably by liaising administratively with Columbia’s School of Professional Studies where the program is located. Applicants with experience in outreach and diversity activities will be particularly welcome.

Applicants must have the Ph.D. in hand at time of appointment. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
