Southern Illinois University Carbondale seeks applications for an online lecturer in ancient history. This is a term, non-tenure track faculty position with effective date of August 16, 2022. This is a variable-time position with a maximum of two courses per semester (fall 2022 and spring 2023), dependent on enrollment. Courses will be taught online. Scheduled courses are CLAS 271 (Roman civilization) and HIST 412B (Roman empire survey) in the fall of 2022, and CLAS 270 (Greek civilization) and HIST 207 (topics in world history) in the spring of 2023. Minimum qualifications: MA in History, Classics, or a closely related field; college-level teaching experience. Preferred qualifications: PhD in History, Classics, or a closely related field; online teaching experience at the collegiate level. The PhD is required for the Assistant Professor of Practice title.
