Located in Northeast Tennessee between the Great Smoky Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains, East Tennessee State University is a state-assisted and Carnegie-classified Doctoral Research-Intensive University of more than 15,000 students. The Department of Literature and Language at East Tennessee State University is seeking a qualified individual to fill a tenure-track assistant professor position in the areas of Drama and Mythology.
Responsibilities include a 3/3 teaching load, at least one course of which per semester will be online. Courses taught will include Drama(as genre), Mythology (survey), and others in the candidate’s area of expertise. Preference will be given to candidates with secondary expertise in the Ancient Greek language. Faculty must be committed to teaching, research, and service that includes recruitment and retention. Faculty must also be dedicated to working in a department that is sensitive to the needs of first-generation students.

Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in English, Classics, or Comparative Literature. Applicants with advanced ABD standing will be considered, but Ph.D. must be awarded by the start date (August 15, 2023).
Ability to develop and teach online courses in primary subject areas (Drama and Mythology).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching Ancient Greek. Experience teaching Latin is a plus. Experience working with/teaching diverse groups of students. Experience with recruitment and retention.
At least two years of full-time teaching experience.
Salary: $55,000
