The Classics Department at Hamilton College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant

Professor with expertise in material culture. The term of appointment is one year, with the

possibility of renewal, beginning on July 1, 2023. We are particularly interested in candidates

with secondary expertise in the study of race and/or interactions between Greeks, Romans, and

other ancient Mediterranean cultures. The course load is five courses per year. The candidate

should be prepared to teach Ancient Greek and/or Latin at all levels, culture courses from our

existing catalog, and 1-2 courses of their own design.

ABD candidates will be considered, although candidates with a Ph.D. are preferred. Candidates

should display evidence of accomplished teaching and a record of scholarship or strong scholarly promise. Hamilton College believes that diversity is essential to the excellence of its academic program. To apply, candidates should submit a cover letter and CV, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be submitted by the deadline. Your cover letter should address the ways in which you would further Hamilton’s goal of building a diverse and inclusive educational environment. Please upload all materials via Interfolio at http://apply.interfolio.com/119226. Questions regarding the search may be directed to Prof. Anne Feltovich, Search Committee Chair, at afeltovi@hamilton.edu. Applications are due by January 30, 2023. We expect to conduct interviews via Zoom in late February or early March.
