The Department of History and Classics at Providence College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Classics beginning in the fall of 2023. We especially welcome applications from candidates whose scholarship explores the culture and/or literature of the Late Republican or Early Imperial Roman Eras. The ability to teach undergraduate courses on Greek and Roman history and culture, as well as all levels of Greek and Latin, is required. Competence to teach in the Development of Western Civilization program, as part of the regular 3-3 teaching load, is also required. Experience in interdisciplinary and/or team-teaching is desirable. Ph.D. by date of appointment is required.

Semi-finalists will be expected to submit 1-2 sample syllabi and a response to the mission statement at that time. Finalists will likely be invited for on-campus visits during the week of May 1.
