The Wellman Chair in Medieval History. The UCLA History Department seeks a historian of any region of Europe (including the Byzantine world) whose period of focus lies between 500 and 1400 CE. The successful candidate will be a senior Associate or Full Professor distinguished by a field-leading research and publication record, as well as a dedicated teacher and mentor. A PhD in history or a related field is required. The search will close and the committee will begin reviewing applications on August 15, 2023.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. The salary range for this position is $103,500-$210,00+. “Off-scale salaries” and other components of pay, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.
