The Department of Classics at the University of California, Berkeley has been authorized to fill a faculty position in Greek Literature with an expected start date of July 1, 2016, at the level of tenure-track assistant professor without tenure or associate professor with tenure.

The Department of Greek and Roman Studies invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor appointment in Roman Art and Archaeology. Applicants should hold a PhD and be demonstrably active in fieldwork. Ideal candidates will have begun publishing and will have a demonstrable research and publication plan. The successful applicant should be able to offer a broad range of courses in Roman Art and Archaeology, to introduce innovative courses related to her/his research areas, and to teach Roman Art and Archaeology at all levels of the undergraduate and graduate curriculum.

The Classics program at Bard College seeks a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor with a commitment to teaching Greek and Latin at all levels and with research and teaching interests in literature, history, or literature in a historical context. The successful candidate will contribute meaningfully both to the Classics and History programs, as well as to First-year Seminar, Bard’s core Humanities course (reading ancient, medieval and early modern texts). A record of successful language teaching, especially at the beginning level, is highly desirable.

The Department of Classics at the University of Chicago invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in Greek literature, with a preference for someone with interests in Homeric or other early Greek poetry, anticipated to commence July 1, 2016. Candidates will be expected to provide evidence of success as a teacher. Conferral of Ph.D. by June 30, 2016 is highly preferred, and Ph.D. degree must be conferred within one year of start date.

The Department of Classics at Princeton University announces a position in medieval Latin at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2016. The successful candidate should combine great scholarly promise with an ability to teach medieval Latin at the undergraduate and graduate levels. S/he will also contribute to teaching and developing interdisciplinary medieval studies courses in translation as well as to our beginning Latin sequence.
