The Cotsen Institute of Archaeology at the University of California, Los Angeles announces a postdoctoral position for the 2018-19 academic year with the possibility of a one year extension. We are seeking a recent Ph.D. in ethnoarchaeobotany or related field who will be also responsible for the programming and activities of the Ancient agriculture/Ethnoarchaeobotany Laboratory at the Institute. Preference will be given to a candidate conducting research in the Americas, but scholars working in all regions of the world are encouraged to apply.

The Department of Classics at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will have strong research interests within the field of Roman prose literature and is expected to have a Ph.D. in Classics or a closely related field in hand by August 19, 2019.

The Department of Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies (CAMS) at The Pennsylvania State University (University Park Campus) invites applications for the appointment of a tenure-track assistant professor or a tenured associate professor in the field of Roman history, beginning August 15, 2019. We seek applications from candidates with active research interests in the history of the ancient Roman world. Complementary areas of specialization or research experience are welcome, such as Roman archaeology and material culture, or Latin epigraphy.

The Department of Classics and Ancient History at Durham University (UK) seeks to appoint two outstanding scholars to the role of Assistant Professor in Classics (Greek Literature) at Grade 7-8. We welcome applications from those with research and teaching interests in the broad field of Greek literature; for one of the posts, while a focus on Near Eastern Studies in addition to specialisation in Greek Literature would be desirable, it is not essential.

The Department welcomes candidates in any field related to Greco-Roman antiquity who have demonstrated enthusiasm for and expertise in Latin instruction.

The Department of Classical Studies at Indiana University, Bloomington, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor to begin in the fall of 2019. We seek an individual with expertise in Latin Language, Literature, and Culture who is committed to excellence in scholarship and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Ph.D. is required at time of appointment. The Department of Classical Studies has close ties to the interdisciplinary Program in Ancient Studies.

The Quantitative Criticism Lab (QCL; www.qcrit.org), a research group developing cross-disciplinary approaches to the study of literature and culture, invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral fellowship. The duration of the fellowship is 18 months, from January 2, 2019 to June 30, 2020. The field of specialization is open, but expertise in computer programming and statistical analysis is essential, as is a deep interest in the study of literature.

The Department of Classics at Johns Hopkins University seeks to fill a new position at the rank of (tenured) associate or full professor. Research specialization is open, and applications are encouraged from classicists working on any aspect of Greco-Roman culture and its reception, though it is expected that the successful applicant will complement, supplement, or deepen the department’s existing strengths. Applicants are required to have a Ph.D.
