The Department of Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a one-year (non-tenure-track) lectureship in Roman history and archaeology for the 2015-2016 academic year, with the possibility of renewal. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate surveys of Roman history, the archaeology of Roman Italy or of the Roman empire, and Greek and Roman civilization; we will be particularly interested in candidates also able to teach courses in any of the following areas: classical myth, ancient Mediterranean Civilizations, Greek history, Greek, and Latin. Applicants must hold a PhD in Classics or in a related field at time of appointment, and must be able to demonstrate relevant teaching experience. A full-time appointment will carry a three-course load per semester at an annual salary of $30,000, with benefits.
