Reed College invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Classics and Humanities beginning August 2015. We are seeking a classicist with a strong background in Greek and Roman material culture and history who is also prepared to teach courses in Greek and Latin languages. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level. In addition to courses in material culture and ancient history, the appointee will teach Greek and Latin languages at all levels, advise senior theses, and teach in Reed’s first-year Humanities course, which focuses on civilizations of the ancient Mediterranean. Candidates should have the Ph.D. in hand or near completion by fall 2015. Applications should include a cover letter describing teaching and scholarly interests, a CV, three letters of recommendation, and a writing sample of no more than twenty-five pages.
