The Department of Classics at the University of Kansas invites applications for a two-semester appointment at the rank of lecturer with specialty in Ancient Greek and/or Roman History beginning in August 2024.

The position is 100% teaching with a 4-4 load. Courses will be in Ancient Greek and Roman History and most will be cross-listed in the Departments of Classics and History. All courses are in-person, with approximately 18 to 35 students per class. The opportunity to teach multiple sections of some course(s) concurrently may be available if the successful candidate prefers not to teach 4 different courses in a single semester.

PhD in hand is preferred, but ABD candidates will be considered. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S. by the effective date of the appointment.

Salary: $44,000. This is a non-renewable, benefits-eligible position. Additional (online) teaching with additional pay may be available in Winter (Dec 2024/Jan 2025) and Summer (2025) sessions. The Department of Classics will also offer funding for travel to give papers at AHA, AIA, SCS, or CAMWS.
