The Department of Classics at Princeton University announces a position in Roman History of the imperial period at the rank of assistant professor (tenure-track), specialization open, to begin in September 2018. Candidates with a special interest in material culture are also encouraged to apply. Teaching opportunities for the successful candidate will include graduate seminars, undergraduate courses in lecture as well as seminar format, and language courses. Candidates are expected to have the PhD in hand by the start of the appointment.

The Department of Classical Studies at Indiana University, Bloomington, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor to begin in the fall of 2018. We seek an individual with expertise in Latin Language, Literature, and Culture who is committed to excellence in scholarship and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Ph.D. is required at time of appointment. The Department of Classical Studies has close ties to the interdisciplinary Program in Ancient Studies.

Carleton College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment in Classics beginning September 1, 2018, at the rank of assistant professor. Candidates must have Ph.D. in-hand by time of appointment. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in Greek and Roman history, as well as Latin and Greek at all levels.

The Department of Classics at the University of California, Los Angeles, has been authorized to make an appointment to a full-time position in Roman material culture at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or Associate Professor (with tenure), effective July 1, 2018. We invite applicants with interests from across the range of disciplines dealing with material culture, including Art History and Visual Culture, Archaeology, and Digital Humanities, who would expand the department’s and UCLA’s current strengths.

The University at Albany, State University of New York, seeks to appoint a full-time tenure-track assistant professor in ancient history, with a research concentration on any aspect of Hellenistic culture (including material culture) from the Classical Period to Late Antiquity. The successful candidate will be expected to teach the first part of the Western Civilization introduction course, surveys of Greek and Roman History, as well as more specialized undergraduate and graduate courses in an area of expertise.

Haverford College invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Classics, at the beginning or advanced Assistant Professor level. The position will begin in Fall 2018 and qualified candidates should have completed the PhD at the time of the appointment.  The field of scholarly expertise is open.
