The Department of Classics seeks to make a new appointment in conjunction with the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity (CCSRE) at the level of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or tenured Associate Professor. We seek a colleague who will contribute fully to both units, with teaching duties shared equally between the two.

The Department of Classical Studies at Boston University invites applications for a one-year, full-time lecturer (2018-2019) to teach courses in ancient history and undergraduate Greek and Latin language courses. The teaching load is 3 and 3.

The Department of Classical Studies at Brandeis University invites applications for a beginning or advanced tenure-track Assistant Professor with a specialty in Latin Language and Literature, to begin in Fall 2018. The successful candidate will teach introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses in Latin language and literature and a variety of courses in ancient Roman culture or literature in translation. Ability to teach Greek is also welcome and desired.

The Department of Classics at Case Western Reserve University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Latin to commence in August of 2018. Conferral of PhD by June 30, 2018 is required. The field of specialization is open, but we are particularly interested in candidates working in the late Republic or early Empire. The successful candidate will have an active research program and will be expected to teach Latin and Greek at all levels, as well as offer courses on Roman literature, history, and culture in translation.

The University of Chicago invites applications for a position as Lecturer, with full-time benefits, expected to begin September 1, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter for an initial one-year term, with the possibility of renewal. We seek candidates committed to a career in language teaching and learning and to keeping up with best practices in pedagogy. The successful candidate will teach a minimum of six courses per year in elementary and intermediate Latin and Ancient Greek, upper-level grammar review, and/or elementary prose composition.

The Department of Classics at Georgetown University invites applications for a one-year position (2018/19) as a visiting assistant professor in Roman history and culture. Teaching load is three courses per semester; the candidate is expected to teach undergraduate classes in Roman history and culture in translation at all levels and also Latin. PhD must be in hand by the time of taking up the appointment.

The Department of Classics at Saint Anselm College, a Roman Catholic undergraduate liberal arts college in the Benedictine tradition in Manchester, NH invites applications for an approved position as Visiting Assistant Professor, to begin Fall 2018, annually renewable for up to three years. The successful candidate will teach Greek and Latin at all levels as well as courses in archaeology and material culture. Area of research specialization is open, though an interest in some aspect of Roman material culture is highly desirable.

LECTURER IN LATIN, UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS AT CHICAGO (UIC)

The Department of Classics and Mediterranean Studies is seeking a full time lecturer to teach six courses over two semesters in Beginning and Intermediate Latin, with the possibility of teaching a course in Medical Terminology. The position will begin in Fall 2018 and may be extended. Final authorization of the position is subject to availability of funding.

We seek a classicist with an ambitious research agenda focused on some aspect of ancient Rome, and with a commitment to energetic, engaged undergraduate teaching. The successful candidate will teach Greek and Latin at all levels and courses in Roman literature and history in the original language and in translation, as well as ancient civilization seminars and general education courses.
