The Department of Middle East Studies (MES) at the University of Michigan invites applicants for the “Marjorie M. Fisher Professorship in Egyptology of the Pharaonic Period” at the level of Assistant Professor (tenure-track), expected to begin September 1, 2020. This is a university-year (nine-month) appointment.

The Department of Religion seeks a scholar of ancient Christianity for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor, beginning in July 2020. Assistant Professor: Ancient Greek Material Culture

GENERAL INFORMATION

Kalamazoo College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Classics, beginning Fall 2020. We seek a generalist with a high aptitude for and interest in undergraduate teaching and a commitment to the liberal arts. Candidates must be able to teach both Latin and Ancient Greek at all levels and show an interest in developing and teaching an array of civilization courses that speak to our increasingly diverse student body.

Reed College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Classics and Humanities beginning August 2020. We seek to appoint a teacher-scholar of exceptional promise with research specialties in Greek or Latin literature that will complement the existing strengths of the department and the college. The successful candidate will teach a 3–2 load typically comprised of different levels of Greek and Latin together with a team-taught interdisciplinary humanities course for first-year students that focuses on building skills in reading, writing, and critical thinking.

Professor-in-Charge, one-year appointment for 2022-2023, August through May. Candidates must have good knowledge of Ancient Rome and Greek and Roman Italy, be interested in teaching undergraduates, and be willing to lead a team-taught course combining archaeology, history, topography, literature and epigraphy. Ability to teach either intermediate or advanced-level Greek or intermediate or advanced-level Latin desirable.

Resident Instructor for 2020-2021, August through May. Candidates must have good knowledge of Ancient Rome and Greek and Roman Italy, be interested in teaching undergraduates, and be willing to participate in a team-taught course combining archaeology, history, topography, literature and epigraphy. They also must be able to teach either intermediate or advanced-level Greek or intermediate or advanced-level Latin. Candidates are usually at the A.B.D. stage of their graduate work.
