The Department of Classics at Georgetown University invites applications for a three-year, full-time, non-tenure-line Assistant Teaching Professor position in Greek literature and culture to begin August 1, 2023. The teaching load is three courses per semester. The candidate is expected to teach courses on ancient Greek literature and culture in translation as well as ancient Greek language courses at all levels.

Summary

The Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of Utah invites applications for a one-year Associate Instructor position in Classics to teach six classes, three each semester, in the 2023–2024 academic year. The Associate Instructor role is equivalent to what is called an ‘adjunct’ role at many institutions. This position is full-time. It is not renewable. We will begin reviewing applications on Monday, 3 April. The position will remain open until filled.

Wabash College invites applications for a part-time instructor of Classics to begin July 1, 2023. We are looking for someone who can expertly teach one course in each of the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters. The Fall course will be Classical Mythology, and our preference is that the Spring course (1) be pitched at the introductory level; (2) center on Greek and/or Roman civilization/culture; and (3) have a broad appeal to Wabash’s student body.

The Department of Classics at Bowdoin College seeks applicants for a full-time, one-year visiting assistant professor appointment beginning July 1, 2023. A PhD by July 1, 2023 is preferred, ABD considered. Teaching responsibilities for this position will consist of two courses per semester; topics for these courses in 2023-2024 will likely include Latin and/or Greek at the intermediate or advanced level and courses in translation related to the successful candidate’s areas of expertise.
