The School of Humanities at Massey University is seeking to make a 3-year fixed term appointment (full time) for a lecturer in Classical Studies starting July 2016. The duties of the position are comparable with those of a Lecturer in the UK or an Assistant Professor in the US. This position will expand the staffing from 3 to 4 FTE. The position will be based at Massey University’s Albany campus in Auckland (currently rated as the 9th most liveable city in the world).

Furman University announces a two-year position at the level of visiting assistant professor to begin August 2016. We seek a broadly trained classicist who can teach Greek and Latin at all undergraduate levels. The successful candidate will teach the introductory and intermediate sequence of Greek and the introductory sequence in Latin, as well as Classics courses in translation. We especially welcome candidates with a thoughtful approach to language pedagogy in a liberal arts context. The teaching load is five courses per year divided over two semesters.

The Program in Hellenic Studies at Columbia University invites applications for a lecturer in Modern Greek language and culture, to begin July 1, 2016. Initial appointment is for three years with the possibility of renewal thereafter. The successful candidate will be appointed as a full-time Lecturer in Discipline in Modern Greek in the Classics Department.

The Department of Classics at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey (New Brunswick) invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track position as Instructor in Classics, effective Fall 2016. We seek a generalist with strong pedagogical skills and substantial experience in online teaching, and who is able to teach Greek and Latin language and Classical Humanities courses in an online format at all undergraduate levels. The teaching load is 3-3. Renewal contingent upon demonstrated teaching effectiveness in all courses assigned, and on continuing needs of the program.

Reed College invites applications for a possible one-year visiting appointment in Classics and Humanities beginning August 2016. We are seeking a classicist with a strong background in Greek and Latin literature. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level. The appointee will teach Greek and Latin language and literature courses, advise senior theses, and may teach in Reed’s first-year Humanities course, which focuses on the Ancient Mediterranean World. Candidates should have the Ph.D. in hand or near completion by fall 2016.

The Department of Classics at the University of Maryland, College Park, invites applications for a one-year, full-time position at the rank of Lecturer, non-tenure-track, to begin Fall 2016, possibly renewable for an additional year. The position requires a PhD in Classics at the time of appointment.

The Department of Classics at Union College invites applications for a three-year appointment at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor that will begin in September 2016. The area of specialization is open, but we look for evidence of a strong interest in making interdisciplinary contributions to the curriculum (examples include, but are not limited to, ancient technology, art, archaeology, science, women and gender studies, religion). Teaching competencies must include Greek and Latin at all undergraduate levels as well as general courses in translation.

Franklin & Marshall College invites applications for a one-year visiting position in the Department of Classics beginning Fall 2016. The rank will be Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Instructor, depending on qualifications. Applicants should possess or be close to completing a doctorate in Classics. The successful candidate must be able to teach courses in Ancient History and Greek or Latin at all levels. Teaching experience required.

The Classical Studies Department at Dickinson College seeks a Classicist at the rank of tenure track assistant professor who specializes in Greek or Roman history and can teach Greek and Latin at all levels.
