Monmouth College, a liberal arts college and member of the Associated Colleges of the Midwest, announces a one-year, part-time position in Classics, primarily archaeology, for the academic year 2017-2018. Teaching responsibilities, subject to enrollment, will include teaching several half-semester archaeology classes, one half-semester mythology class, and an archaeological lab course. The specific half-semester courses, which allow for considerable flexibility in content, are the following.

The UCLA Department of Classics invites applications for a Visiting Lecturer position for the academic year 2017-18, pending Dean’s budget approval. Candidates must have the Ph.D. or equivalent in hand by July 1, 2017. The position is open to broadly trained Classicists who are able to teach large lecture courses in classical civilization as well as Greek and/or Latin language at all undergraduate levels, including teaching and supervision of our elementary language programs.

The Department of Classical Studies at DePauw University invites applications for a three-year Postdoctoral Scholar beginning in the 2017-18 academic year. We seek a broadly-trained Classicist to teach Latin, Greek, and Classical Civilization courses at all undergraduate levels. Ph.D. defense successfully completed by the time position starts in August 2017, but not prior to 2014.

The Department of Classics at Dartmouth College seeks to appoint a lecturer for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years. Candidates for this position should be specialists in ancient Greek or Latin languages and literatures who are prepared to teach courses in Greek and Latin at all levels as well as one or more courses in Classical civilization. This two-year position requires teaching five courses over three ten-week academic quarters each year, starting in June, 2017. The post comes with competitive salary and benefits.

Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, invites applications for a full-time, two-year visiting assistant professor beginning in the fall, 2017, shared by the Classics and History Departments. The incumbent will teach courses in Greek and Roman history originating in the History Department and courses in Greek and Latin language, as needed, originating in the Classics Department, including an upper-level Greek course on Euripides. Applicants must have completed the Ph.D.; independent teaching experience is strongly preferred.

The University of Puget Sound invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in the Department of Classics beginning in August, 2017. Responsibilities include teaching first-year Latin, Latin or Greek at the advanced level, classical myth, and an advanced undergraduate course in translation of the candidate’s design. Ph.D. is required by time of appointment. Our normal teaching load is three courses per semester. This position has been approved as a full-time position and is eligible for benefits.

The Department of Classical Studies invites applications for a one-year appointment at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor in Classical Studies, to begin in August 2017. Candidates must have the PhD in hand before the appointment begins. We are searching for someone specializing in Greek archaeology.

Kalamazoo College invites applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics, beginning September 2017; the position may be renewed for a third year. We seek a generalist with a high aptitude for and interest in undergraduate teaching and a commitment to the liberal arts. Candidates with specialization in Greek literature, ancient history or language pedagogy are of particular interest. The successful candidate will teach six courses over three terms, including Greek and Latin at all levels and courses in classical civilization.

The Department of Classics at Dartmouth College invites applications for a full-time visiting position in Classics, to begin in Fall 2017. We seek a Classicist, preferably with Ph.D. in hand, to teach courses in Latin and Greek at all levels, and one or more courses in translation, including a course on Ancient Drama. The position carries a five-course load over three consecutive quarters.

The teaching load is seven quarter courses (e.g., 3-2-2), not to exceed three courses per quarter. Teaching responsibilities include sections of a cross-disciplinary two-course sequence in the Core for first-year students, Intermediate Latin, and the Elementary Latin sequence.
