The Department of World Languages and Literatures at The University of Memphis is seeking applicants for a one-year, non-tenure track instructor in Classics starting August 2019 pending availability of funds. Requirements: M.A. degree in Classics; native or near-native proficiency in English; ability to teach Italian is highly desirable, successful teaching experience in lower and upper-division courses as demonstrated by recent student and supervisor evaluations. The successful candidate will teach 4 or 5 courses per semester in Classics, Latin and/or Greek and possibly Italian.

Monmouth College, a selective liberal arts college, announces a one-year, part-time position in Classics for the academic year 2019-2020. Teaching responsibilities, subject to enrollment, will include teaching two full-semester courses in the fall (Latin I and Mythology: The Trojan War and Its Aftermath), one full-semester course in the spring (Latin II), and consecutive half-semester courses in the spring (Medical Terminology and Scientific Terminology). The position requires an M.A. in Classics or a related field and notable teaching experience.

The Department of Classical, Middle Eastern and Asian Languages and Cultures at Queens College, the City University of New York (CUNY), invites applications for a full-time appointment in Classics at the rank of Lecturer, to begin in the fall semester of 2019.

The Classical and Medieval Studies Program at Bates College invites applications for a two-year, four-course lectureship (80%), beginning in fall 2019. We welcome applications from candidates trained in the history and culture of Archaic, Classical, or Hellenistic Greece. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach two courses in Classical Greek language and two civilization courses, one an introductory survey, and the other more advanced course in an area of specialization.

The Department of the Classics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time 9-month, non-tenure track appointment at the rank of Lecturer in the area of Modern Greek language and culture, with a start date of August 16, 2019. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Modern Greek, Classics, Comparative Literature or in an immediately relevant field by June 1, 2019 and must be fluent in Modern Greek language. The successful candidate will be expected to teach six courses.

The Classical and Medieval Studies Program at Bates College invites applications for a two-year, four-course lectureship (80%), beginning in fall 2019. We welcome applications from candidates trained in the history and culture of Republican and Imperial Rome. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach three courses in Roman history and culture, and one course in Latin annually. Courses in Roman history will be cross-listed in the college’s history department.
