Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Classical Studies seeks qualified candidates for an appointment as Assistant Professor, beginning Fall 2022. The Department of Classical Studies has seven full-time faculty serving majors and minors in Classical Civilization, Latin, and Ancient Greek. The department, which is located on the university’s Lakeshore Campus, also houses a post-baccalaureate program in Classics and contributes to the training of graduate students in the humanities in the ancient languages.

Term: Summer 2023

Term: A full-time position beginning in August 2022 for three years, ending June 30, 2025, with a possible renewal for a final fourth year.

Qualifications: Candidates must have earned the Ph.D. no more than five years prior to the application and must have spent at least one academic year as a Member of the ASCSA. An active agenda for research, knowledge of Greece and Modern Greek, and teaching experience are expected.
