The 2022 AIA and SCS joint Annual Meeting will take place January 5-8 and will be a virtual only event. Due to rising Covid cases around the country, the AIA and SCS have made the decision to cancel the in-person portion of the Annual Meeting and go virtual only. While we are eager to meet in-person, the health and safety of those involved takes precedence.
Registrants can access the annual meeting platform using the same email address with which they registered.

Hybrid Meeting Update, 07/07/21
AIA and SCS have been working on detailed plans for our 2022 joint Annual Meeting based on the results of our recent survey. Since 60% of respondents expressed a preference for a hybrid meeting, we are planning for our first ever hybrid conference in January 2022. This means speakers will be able to present in person in San Francisco or remotely in each session, and attendees will be able to attend sessions in the hotel or virtually. This is an ambitious undertaking and some elements of the conference cannot easily have a hybrid format; for example, social events will need to be either in person or virtual. However, we aim to make the meeting as hybrid as is feasible given logistics, costs, and staff capacity. We anticipate a two-tier scale of registration rates, with virtual attendance costing less than in person attendance. There are many details still to be worked out, so please bear with us and we will update you later this Summer and in the Fall.
Members who made submissions to the SCS program committee this spring can expect to receive notification emails about the program committee’s decisions within the next few days.

The SCS program submission system is now closed.

Special Events
The 2022 Annual Meeting will feature the SCS Plenary Session, the CAMP Play, and the Presidential Panel organized by President Shelley P. Haley. Haley, Kelly Dugan, Nicole Adiyenka Spigner, and Tracey Walters.
Meeting Planning
Please submit your abstracts and proposals for the 2022 Annual Meeting! As in 2021, we aim to accommodate all those presentations, panels, workshops, seminars, and roundtables that are accepted for the program, although we cannot be certain as yet what shape the meeting will take.
We are scheduled to hold the 2022 Annual Meeting in San Francisco at the Hilton Union Square but obviously the pandemic continues to provide unprecedented challenges. Currently, we are engaged in early-stage planning with our counterparts at AIA and at the Hilton San Francisco, and with audiovisual and technology vendors in order to investigate possibilities for a hybrid meeting. We are also monitoring the pandemic and vaccine rollout globally. We have received helpful feedback already from members on the 2021 Annual Meeting survey. Additionally, we plan to distribute a 2022 Pre-Annual Meeting Survey in late spring or early summer to elicit member feedback on the organization of the meeting and individual participation needs and preferences.
Once we are able to form a clearer idea of the most appropriate format for the 2022 Annual Meeting, taking into account public health concerns, accessibility and equity, existing contracts and measures necessitated by COVID-19, we will be sure to inform all members of developments and have an ongoing dialogue with presenters and attendees.
