The Georgetown University Classics Department invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The first of these will be in Roman History. The area of research specialization is open, but candidates should be prepared to teach undergraduate courses in Roman republican and imperial history and culture as well as advanced undergraduate language courses on Greek and Latin prose authors.

Humanities Professor. Hood College seeks applicants for the Sophia M. Libman National Endowment for the Humanities Professor, an interdisciplinary, three-year, non-tenurable position. As the focal point for our recently funded National Endowment Challenge Grant, the Libman Professor will come to Hood for a three-year appointment, teaching a reduced course load (2/2 instead of 3/3). The Libman professor will also convene a teaching workshop each year and assist in planning the NEH Center for the Humanities lecture series.

POSITION ONE: Professor-in-Charge, one-year appointment for 2003-04. September through May. Candidates must have good knowledge of Ancient Rome and Greek and Roman Italy, be interested in teaching undergraduates, and be willing to lead a team-taught course combining archaeology, history, topography, literature and epigraphy. Should also be able to teach either intermediate or advanced-level Greek or intermediate or advanced-level Latin.
