The Cotsen Institute of Archaeology, UCLA, Los Angeles, California, announces a postdoctoral position for the academic year, 2015-16, to begin September 1, 2015. We are seeking a recent Ph. D. in archaeology or any field related to archaeology with a research project and/or methodological specialization that complements resources at the Cotsen Institute, such as paleo-environmental studies, historical archaeology, or early complex societies. Preference will be given to a candidate specializing in an aspect of East or Southeast Asian archaeology.

The College of Arts and Sciences at Florida State University has inaugurated a Post-Doctoral Fellows program in the Humanities, and the Department of Classics has been awarded one of the first such Fellow positions. This position is a two-year appointment to begin August 2015, of nine months for each of the two academic years, non-renewable.

Bucknell University seeks applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor to begin in August 2015 with the possibility of renewal for a second year. ABD considered; Ph.D. preferred. The department seeks a generalist philologist with an emphasis in Latin language and literature to teach a sequence of literature and civilization courses, Latin at all levels, and courses in the applicant's area of expertise (specific area of specialization is open).

Hobart and William Smith Colleges, located in the New York Finger Lakes region, invites applications for a one-year, temporary, four course, benefits-eligible (80%) position in the Classics, beginning Fall 2015.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach two Roman history courses and the introductory Latin sequence. We encourage and value innovative approaches. PhD in hand preferred; ABD’s will be considered. Evidence of excellent teaching is also desirable.

The Department of Classical Languages at Sewanee: The University of the South invites applications for a three-year term appointment as visiting assistant professor in Classical Archaeology and Classical Languages to start in August 2015.

The Department of Classics at Howard University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2015. The candidate should be able to offer courses on the art, archaeology, and civilizations of Greece and Rome in all periods, as well as on Hellenistic and Roman Egypt and North Africa; evidence of an ability to cover the ancient Near East is especially welcome. A Ph.D. is required at the time of application.

UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI, Department of Classics, is seeking applicants for a Visiting Assistant Professor to teach three courses in both the Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 semesters. Ph.D. in Classics or related discipline required by time of appointment. At least one year’s experience in college teaching preferred. Duties include teaching undergraduate courses in Latin and/or Greek and/or English translation, and participating in various departmental activities. 
 

The School of Languages & Cultures at Purdue University announces a search for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics for the 2015-2016 academic year. This appointment is for one academic year and provides for the teaching of four courses each semester. The ideal candidate will have expertise in teaching a range of undergraduate courses in Latin, ancient Greek, and literature/culture topics, and will be ready to teach Latin at the advanced level.

The Classics Department at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time non-continuing faculty position as a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in the College of Arts and Sciences. Appointment to this position will be for a term of two years beginning fall semester of 2015-16 and will carry the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor and Postdoctoral Fellow. The position is supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and by a challenge grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
